+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Labor Day Family Weekend at Northwood’s was a success (again).

The weather was great and so was the food prepared by the FON cooks.  Full breakfasts, grilled burgers and hot dogs, salads, fruits and the special “dirt” desert,

and a great chicken supper with all the fix’ins.  Some folks cooked in their camp sites, some had fish dinners.

Supper:  Barbe-q Chicken, corn on cob, baked potato, salad, rolls, fresh fruit and desert and drinks---mummy  good

Only $5.00 per person--where else but Northwoods can you beat that?

Fishing contest:  From noon to 4 pm on Saturday, there were 119 fish caught by those who entered in the contest—many more by fisherman not entered.

The winners were:  Dillon Thomas with the BIGGEST fish with an 18” Pike.

Jim Milne got a 9 ¼” Blue gill.

Kevin Schmidt caught a total of 28 fish.

It was reported the Ken Gardner family caught 24 fish; many were bass including a 15 incher.

The fish were biting all weekend and it is not known   for sure how many fish were eaten thru out camp.

The scavenger hunt started just after noon on Sunday:  However the clues that were given were too tough for the participants and no one completed the hunt.  Runner up awards were still given out. The hunt took them all over camp and they got their exercise and witnessed Northwoods at its best.

It was an exceptional weekend for all the families and those troop members who attended.

The loons are still on the lake, there was full moon for campfires and peace and quiet was enjoyed by all.

So plan now to attend the Memorial Day Family camp weekend, May 22-23-24-25th, 2010

Special thanks to Tom Baker, Mike Stahl and Brian Graff for working on the emergency plumbing problem in family camp, once again the fluids are flowing.

Michigan International Camporee

The Michigan International Camporee was held July 27 to August 3, 2008, hosted by the Chief Okemos Council, is the largest council-run multinational Scouting event in North America. Once every four years, contingents of Scouts, both all boys and mixed boys and girls, from over 20 countries, gather for 8 days of international friendship and fellowship at the Chief Okemos Council’s Northwood’s Scout Reservation. To learn more about the Michigan   International Camporee visit their web site.

The refurbished fire bowl (by the Order of the Arrow) was the setting for the Kwahadi Native American Dancers performance at MIC.

They are a scout unit from Texas and known all over the USA and Europe for their great programs.  Scouts from all over the world got to see their dance talent, music and song.

This is just one of the fibulas events that take place at Northwood's during MIC.
